Week One

OK, so week one down, and I can safely say you learn more in a week working than you do in a dozen lectures. Jumping into the fast paced, ever changing world of PR has been a challenge. Although I am exhausted from my first week, they don't teach you how to do 9-6 very well at uni, I am already full of invaluable knowledge. My week one tasks have included scanning coverage, compiling reports for clients, putting press packs together, cocktail making at Marie Claire, over seeing a photo shoot for The Times, ringing various people to find out various pieces of information; just to name a few.
Getting to see the Marie Claire office's and meet some big name journalists was a definite highlight, it also showed a unique way in which to get a product to a person. funkin cocktails are our client and we put on an event called 'funkin Friday'. Although we did it on a Wednesday. We take the product to people in a not so in you face way and it has proved really effective with coverage received.
The photo shoot was amazing, I was left in charge of the shoot at one of Hotel Chocolates biggest stores. Last minute I also stepped in to be in the images and ended up front page on the Financial section of the Mail on Sunday. Which earned me a mention in the Monday morning meeting. (Held of Tuesday)
So far I have yet to have much progress on my case study, as it is very difficult to ask questions as people are very very busy. However I have done a lot of observing and realised I need to change my case study question.
Overall this week has been amazing and a real insight into the real PR world.
